With slalom everything revolves around cones.
There are two sub-disciplines:
- Speed slalom: as fast as you can through the cones.
- Freestyle slalom: all about beauty, acrobatics, style!
The Skatefestival is hosting the IFSA Championship Finals this year, where all the best speed- and freestyle slalom skaters will compete for the title. IFSA (International FreeStyle Skaters Association) helps in the organisation of various slalom competitions around Europe, culminating in this years's Amsterdam finals.
During the festival there will be an opportunity to qualify for the finals. If you haven't qualified yet at another IFSA competition, you can give it a go at this festival. Please use the application form to register for the qualifications. A list of those already registered can be found here: we expect many more though! Please also check out the programme for the slalom activities during the festival.
To participate in the qualifications we ask all competitors to pay a fee. This allows us to employ a professional jury which guarantees that all performances are fairly rated. The fees are: €8 for freestyle slalom qualification and €8 for speed slalom qualification. The finals (Saturday & Sunday) are of course free of charge for all the qualified skaters. But please note that there is an additional €2 admission fee to the Jaap Eden sports complex on Saturday and Sunday.
All fees must be paid before competitors take part in the qualification. There will be a Welcome Desk at the entrance of the Jaap Eden sports complex where competitors can confirm their registrations, pay the fee(s), hand in the music (for freestyle slalom) and get any other information about the Festival. Note that Amsterdam skaters can pay in advance to Marine Wallace.

For those that will not compete themselves, come and see, because it will be spectacular! The animation will be done by Amsterdam's own Ayke van Os.
